Words and Music by SHAKE YOUR PEACE!

[In the summer of 2010 SHAKE YOUR PEACE! hosted the 3rd Walking/Music Tour up the California Coastal Trail, joined by other musical acts and friends on a pilgrimage from San Francisco to Point Reyes Station, carrying our instruments on our backs, and playing each night in the little towns along the way. 
On the night that the Walking Tour arrived in Olema, we didn’t have any show scheduled. Undeterred, me and my friend Michael Zeligs wandered into the nearby RV campground with a ukelele and guitar, singing and acting like troubadour/fools, seeing if we could rope any of the campers into engaging with us. At one point I remember Michael riffing on something to the effect of: "don't worry people, we're not up to any mischief or anything...well, that is, unless we are!” And I was instantly tickled by the elemental silliness of, like the scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz, at once pointing in one direction and then in the same breath pointing in the other. It seems to me that there’s a lot of integrity in acknowledging that both here AND there are the direction we intend to go, that is, unless we stay right where we are. That nugget that Michael planted grew into “Ain’t No Mischief ‘Less We Are” and I’m forever grateful to him - not only for his habit of high quality, spontaneous creative outbursts, but also for being the only person who ended up through-walking with me all the way up to Point Reyes.
